In order to facilitate his return to Everton, 13 years later, Wayne Rooney will agree to a salary reduction of around 50 per cent.
Currently earning over £300,000 at Old Trafford, including sponsorship add-ons, the 31-year-old will be closer to £150,000 at Goodison Park.
With a year left out of his four-year deal at Manchester United, the club will have to pay off the remaining £15 million over the next 12 months.
