Manchester City moved up to second in the Women's Super League after braces from Nikita Parris and Georgia Stanway helped them to a 7-1 win over West Ham.

City began the game without seven players absent because of injuries and the international break, and were surprisingly not at their best at times despite the scoreline.

Caroline Weir opened the scoring with a spectacular volley before Parris added a second with a well-taken header past Becky Spencer in the 'Hammers' goal.

Parris then grabbed her second as she rounded the keeper, before a Georgia Stanway double either side of Steph Houghton's header put City six-in-front.

Esmee de Graaf pulled one back for West Ham before Tessa Wullaert rounded off procedings for number seven.

Although the scoreline may suggest otherwise, there were positive signs for the London outfit.
