Olympique Lyon forward Rayan Cherki, who held Manchester United to a draw in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals with his late goal, said the Red Devils “feared” them and deserved to win the match.

Olympique Lyon managed to salvage a precious draw against Manchester United at home when it looked like the French side would have to travel to Old Trafford with a one-goal deficit.

Rayan Cherki capitalised on a mistake by Onana to score a last-gasp equaliser that put the tie at 50-50 heading into the second leg in England.

However, the 21-year-old striker said after the match that they deserved to have won and that they could feel the “fear” from Ruben Amorim's team.

"We deserved a lot better. We were better and from the start we felt the fear in them," he said.

"Now we're just waiting for one thing, to go over there to win. When they set up against us with two defensive midfielders, that means they're afraid of us."
