Negotiations between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Manchester United seemed to have stalled as there had been no information for some time but it seems that the Red Devils have finally decided to extend the contract of the player who has just eight months left on his contract in Manchester.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has less than a year left on his contract with Manchester United, with negotiations over a long-term deal seemingly stalled with the club. The Englishman started the Red Devils' first four Premier League games, but suffered a hamstring injury against Brighton that has kept him sidelined.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, talks to agree new terms for Wan-Bissaka have calmed down and Erik ten Hag's side are "likely" to activate a contract extension for the player until June 2025. However, United will seek a long-term deal for the England international.
If Manchester United activate this extension, the player will not be able to talk to teams outside the United Kingdom or leave the club in the summer on a free transfer as he will be with the Red Devils for another year.
Ahead of the match against Sheffield Ten Hag said: "For instance, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, I don't think he's too far away from returning into team training and so back in the team."
Ten Hag's team are back in action in the EFL Cup against Newcastle after the 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby. Wan-Bissaka has just returned to training after missing nine games, including five in the Premier League and could get some playing time after his hamstring injury.
