Man Utd issued a statement to their fans saying that the Europa League match on Thursday against Sheriff will go ahead. The Red Devils said the game will go ahead as scheduled despite the weekend's Premier League action being postponed after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The United Kingdom is in mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. This shook the country and the whole world, after a 70 year reign. This has also affected football.

This weekend's Premier League action was postponed as a mark of respect. The decision has split opinion as some agree with it while others believe paying tribute to her at grounds across the country would have been better,

In any case, the games will not be played. However, several teams will have European commitments in midweek before the next round of Premier League fixtures. That is the case of Man Utd, who will visit Sheriff Tiraspol.

The Premier League side, in a statement, reassured fans and gave them an update on the situation.

Basically, the statement says that it will go ahead as normal: "Following discussions with the relevant governing bodies and in line with guidance issued by the UK Government, we can confirm our UEFA Europa League fixture against FC Sheriff will take place as scheduled on Thursday evening in Moldova. Match arrangements will remain the same for fans who are traveling to support the team in Chisinau."
