Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has already undergone surgery after being injured in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla. "Everything went really well," he wrote on Twitter.

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was injured in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla and will not play again until next season. The Argentinian had to undergo surgery and his recovery process will take longer than expected.

"Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his foot," Manchester United wrote on their website.

The 25-year-old underwent surgery on Wednesday morning and he posted a photo on social media to let fans know that the operation "went well". 

"Everything went really well, thanks to God! Many thanks for all of your messages. Now focusing on the recovery," he wrote on Twitter. Martinez is expected to make a full recovery for the start of next season, according to a Manchester United statement.
