Marcus Rashford decried Manchester United's lack of strategy as leaving the English giants in "no man's land" after joining Barcelona on loan.

Marcus Rashford has expressed concern over Manchester United's ongoing instability, claiming the club has found itself "in no man's land" after years of managerial changes and inconsistent strategies.

Speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast, Rashford argued that the team has yet to begin a genuine transition, despite frequent talk of long-term rebuilding.

The forward, who is currently on loan at Barcelona and could make the move permanent, compared United's situation to Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, highlighting the importance of committing to a plan even if initial results are modest.

"To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it," he said. "We've had that many different managers, ideas and strategies to win that you end up in no man's land."

The 27-year-old  also reflected on the club's glory years under Sir Alex Ferguson, emphasising the value of a coherent philosophy and youth development system.

"When Fergie was in charge, not only the principles for the first team – the whole academy set up so you could pick players from 15 years and over – that's a full generation," he explained. "And they'd all understand the principles of playing the Manchester United way."

Looking back at recent years, Rashford questioned whether a reactive approach can ever lead to success. "Show me a successful team that just adapts," he added, pointing to the contrast between Ferguson's long-term planning and the current cycle of short-term fixes.

His comments underline growing concern over the club's direction as they struggle to re-establish themselves among Europe's elite.
