Man Utd will review their security protocol after a fan was able to bring a toy gun in to Old Trafford.

The incident ocurred during the Champions League clash with Juventus last month, which the home side lost 1-0.

A man who decided to invade the pitch on that occasion was found to have been carrying plastic toy guns in his packback, and although he did not take them on to the pitch they could have created a serious security concern.

In a statement released by the Premier League club, they announced that they would be looking in to how to avoid such an incident happening again.

"Carrying a children's miniature plastic toy gun into a stadium is clearly an irresponsible act. Fortunately, the actions of the pitch intruder at the Juventus game did not harm anyone.

"However, as the security and safety of all fans and staff is the absolute priority at Manchester United, the club immediately launched an investigation.

"This includes a full review of our already rigorous security protocols, using our own security teams together with external expert consultants."
