Sunday's draw at the home against Premier League bottom side Huddersfield Town caused Manchester United to bid farewell to the next edition of the Champions League... and this, according to The Sun, will have negative effects on the payrolls of Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.

The source claims that these players have a clause in their contract that allows the club to lower their salary by up to 25% if they do not qualify for the Champions League; a situation which is now a reality after Sunday's game.

Because of this, and bearing in mind that these three players have not shown great performances this season, they will all see their salaries reduced to a quarter less than what they are currenly. A sizeable decline.

The biggest reduction will happen to  Alexis Sanchez, who received 584,900 euros a week ... and will now be earning 438,700. However, the Chilean, injured this Sunday, could be living his last days in Manchester. Few bet on his continuity.

Romelu Lukaku will go from the 292,400 euros he receives every seven days to 218,700, dropping 74,000 euros of his weekly paycheck.

Last but not least, Paul Pogba. The French earned 350,900 euros a week and will receive 263,200. His decline in salary, added to the non-classification of United to the next Champions League, could be the trigger that ends up pushing him to Madrid.

It should be noted that goalkeeper David de Gea is also in an identical situation to the three other players metioned, but he would reportedly not have a decline in his salary, as his representatives have been negotiating a new contract with Manchester United for months ... which should include a substantial increase in his payroll.
