Leicester's Algerian winger spoke to 'Sky Sports' and explained he regrets how he dealt with his failed move to Manchester City but is ready to move on from it.

Talking of his absence, in which he missed numerous training sessions and two matches before returning as a substitute, Riyad Mahrez said: "I was away from here because I needed some time to think, it was a difficult situation,"

"Manchester City is a good move for everyone but it is the past. It is behind me. If we start talking about this it's like coming back to the transfer window and now I'm moving forward, trying to give my best for the team," he continuted.

"You'll always have regrets but at that time I thought it was the best thing to do," the winger added, admitting his regrets regarding the saga.

Foxes fans were more than willing to let Mahrez reintegrate into the side given his indispensibilty in recent years. It didn't take long for him to win their hearts back when he scored a last gasp equaliser against Bournemouth in the league.

However, fans won't be trusting the Algerian's commitment just yet. "In football players come, players leave, I'm not saying I'm coming or going... We will see in the summer if things come." he said, refusing to rule out a summer move.
