Maguire's place in England squad under threat: Southgate

Gareth Southgate has admitted that Harry Maguire's place in the England squad will not be guaranteed for much longer. The England manager the defender's future amongst his squad beyond the Euros 2024 qualifiers coming up.

Although Man Utd defender Harry Maguire was included in the squad list for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, manager Gareth Southgate has admitted his place may be under threat

This season has seen Maguire play a third of the minutes he did last season for Man Utd, as he has become a fifth-choice centre back for the English side and has spent much of this season on the bench.

Southgate admitted that this was "concerning" for a player in the national squad, and the 30-year-old may soon face younger challengers coming after his spot. In the past Southgate has not been afraid to start Maguire, even when he's not been getting game time at the club level. 

However, Maguire has only started three games for Man Utd since the March international break, and this may finally prove to be the defenders last swan song with the national team, if he doesn't make a move in the summer window.
