Bad news for Zinedine Zidane. Both Gareth Bale and Keylor Navas could be set to miss out on the starting eleven for next Wednesday's Champions League clash against Tottenham.

After the 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid's trip to Wembley to face Spurs is likely to be vital in the outcome of Group H with both sides currently tied on seven points from their first three games.

However, Los Blancos may well have to deal without Keylor Navas between the sticks and Gareth Bale in attack.

According to Spanish publication 'Marca', Bale was hoping to make his return to first-team action for Wednesday's clash, given the importance of the European match, as well as the special personal motivation for him playing against his former club.

However, the Welshman continues to train on his own and his hopes for recovering before the Tottenham clash are looking increasingly slim.

It's a similar situation for goalkeeper Navas. The Costa Rican will not be ready for the league match against Girona, and his chances of featuring in the European competition on Wednesday are looking scarce.

With Navas short of game-time ahead of the crucial Champions League fixture, Madrid could opt for Kiko Casilla in goal. The Spaniard has been Navas' replacement between the sticks during his Costa Rican counterpart's long absence through injury.

Both players will be hoping to recover in time, but it remains to be seen whether they will feature at Wembley on Wednesday.
