The European champions have been able to arm their biggest players with release clauses designed to keep them away from the crosshairs of clubs like PSG who could spoil their plans. Bale and Ronaldo's release clauses are an eye-watering €1bn.

If there's one thing Real Madrid don't have to lose sleep over, it's the possibility of them going through a 'Neymar'. Florentino Pérez has avoided any such possibility by placing astronomical clauses on the heads of his squad's most important players.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the release clauses in the Madrid squad add up to €7.25bn, whilst the same such figure at Barcelona stands at €3.055bn.

The largest and most significant difference between the two clubs can be seen when it comes to their star players. A team wanting Messi will have to pay €400m, once his new contract is made official. Ronaldo, by way of contrast, would only leave Madrid for €1bn.

Whilst Suárez's clause, for example, amounts to €200m, Bale's is also €1bn. It's not just star players at Madrid either. Promising young stars such as Ceballos (€500m), Carvajal (€350m) and Varane (€200m) are just a few examples of Madrid's eye-watering policy.
