The Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) Disciplinary Committee has rejected Real Madrid's appeal against Dean Huijsen's dismissal in the 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad, confirming the defender will serve a one-match suspension.

Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red in the 31st minute after bringing down Mikel Oyarzabal, with referee Jesus Gil Manzano ruling that the foul denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

While the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) had suggested that a yellow card might have been more appropriate, the Disciplinary Committee has made clear that such matters fall strictly within the referee's jurisdiction.

Real Madrid had argued that Huijsen's action did not meet the conditions for denying a clear chance, but the Committee dismissed the claim.

In its ruling, it emphasised that the club "provided no evidence to refute the fact that the player brought down his opponent by grabbing him from behind with his hand," adding that the interpretation of whether or not the situation constitutes a goalscoring opportunity is "a technical decision" outside its remit.

As a result, the suspension remains in place, leaving Huijsen unavailable for Madrid's next La Liga fixture.
