Houssem Aouar was very close to arriving last summer at Real Betis, but financial difficulties at the Spanish club meant the deal fell through. Every day that passes is good news for Lyon, who will try and persuade their star with a great offer on the table.
Houssem Aouar was closer to leaving than staying at Lyon for the 2022-23 season. The French side wanted him to prevent him being able to leave on a free next summer and so they negotiated with Betis. However, the Spanish side's financial situation was not the best.
As well as being sought after by Betis, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Roma were after him months back. But only Manuel Pellegrini's men had presented an offer to the French side.
As time passed, it was better news for Lyon. According to 'RMC Sport', the French side will try and persuade his star with a great renewal offer to keep in Laurent Blanc's squad.
His contract ends at the end of next year and it is still not known what the footballer will do. He was among the 26 players in the France squad to play in the 2022 World Cup.
