A month after Lyon announced that Ferland Mendy had left the club to sign for Real Madrid, Youssouf Kone was confirmed as a new Lyon player.
Lyon have quickly found a player to replace Mendy who left for Real Madrid. Kone, the new left back, has signed with Lyon until 2024.
Through a video in which Kone appears putting on the shirt of his new team and roaring like a lion, the club confirmed the arrival of the footballer. Kone is 24 just like Mendy and he has a lot of experience in French football.
Kone made his Lille debut at just 18 in the 2013-14 season. In the following seasons, he gradually increased his number of appearances with the first team until he was sent out on loan to Stade Reims in the 2017-18 season. He made 20 appearances there and he made the step up he needed to make.
Last season, he had significantly more game time by playing 23 matches. He started 22 of them and he played almost 2000 minutes. As a result, Lyon have now signed the player.
