'Luuk de Jong wouldn't even play at the University of Craiova'
Former player Gica Craioveanu was candid when it came to commenting on what he thought about the signing of Luuk de Jong by Barcelona. He could not find an explanation for the transfer.
Luuk de Jong was a surprise landing at the Camp Nou. The striker agreed a last-minute deal with Barcelona and the club received some criticism over whether or not the move was appropriate.
Speaking to 'Pro-X' and picked up by 'Pro Sport', Gica Craioveanu made it clear that he did not understand Luuk de Jong's arrival when he was "En-Nesyri's replacement".
"De Jong wouldn't even play for Craiova University. He wouldn't play for me. Barca signed a player who is a Dutch international, but who was En-Nesyri's replacement at Sevilla," he said.
The former player said he didn't think it was right that Barcelona signed him "as a real top player to be a starter"
