Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has rejected suggestions that he is one of the world's top players, insisting that there is plenty of room for improvement.

Speaking ahead of United's friendly with Barcelona on Wednesday, Lukaku admitted he pales in comparison to the likes of fellow strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski

"No, no, no - I'm far from that level," asserted the Belgian.

After being compared to former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and being labelled the 'complete package' the 24-year-old replied in modest fashion.

"I can't say I'm the complete package. There is room to improve, 100 per cent. Everything. I'm not happy. I'm not a guy who is satisfied really quickly," he explained.

"I am different. Drogba is more of a target man, I am a player that has the ball into feet, who runs in behind," said Lukaku.

"There are physical similarities but we are totally different players. I am Romelu Lukaku and I want to create my own history."

Lukaku insisted that he is always looking to improve and that that won't change just because he now plays for United. "That's the state of mind I have - I always want to be better. It's a pressure I put on myself. When you play for United you have to perform every week," Lukaku explained to the press.

The former Everton man made it clear that he was looking to prove himself in Europe's elite club competition this season.

"My record in the Europa League is really good. Now I think the Champions League is the next stage where I have to prove myself," concluded the Belgian.

Time will tell as to whether Lukaku will be a success at United but for now he is certainly saying all the right things.
