Manchester United and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku says that former manager Roberto Martinez told his to study other strikers in order to improve his game during the three years the pair spent working together at Everton.
The strikers in question were Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez, West Ham's Mexican international Javier Hernandez and PSG's Edinson Cavani, with Martinez keen for the powerful Belgian to improve his movement in and around the box.
Sanchez enjoyed a prolific spell in the Spanish capital, scoring 208 goals for 'Los Blancos', whilst Hernandez also enjoyed a fruitful spell with Lukaku's current employers Manchester United, scoring 59 times during a five-year spell, despite largely being used as a substitute. Uruguayan striker Cavani meanwhile is considered to be one of the most intelligent strikers in world football at the moment.
Speaking to Belgian news outlet 'DH', Lukaku revealed that he was tasked with studying the trio when he worked under Martinez at Goodison Park.
'I've improved my movement, especially in the box,' he explained, when asked about how his game had improved in recent times.
'Two years ago, at Everton, Roberto Martinez made me watch videos of my own movement, but also those of other strikers like Hugo Sanchez, Edinson Cavani and Chicharito (Javier Hernandez).
'You need to sit down and watch the Uruguayan's movement inside the box. It's incredible. On top of that, I worked three times a week on my runs inside the box with my coaches.'
Lukaku scored twice for his country in their 3-3 draw with Mexico on Friday, but is enduring a seven-game drought for his club side, having failed to score since the 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace all the way back on September 30.
