The former French international has returned to Paris Saint-Germain for a third spell in his coaching career.

The appoinment of Luis Fernandez as head of the youth academy of Paris Saint-Germain means the Frenchman returns to the club he once captained and coached. PSG announced the appoimtnent in a statement on Wednesday.

The 57 year-old played 237 times for PSG as a technically gifted midfielder between 1978 and 1986 and was captain of the team which won the league title in his last season.

Fernandez also had two spells as coach of the Parisian side which yielded the French Cup and League Cup in 1995 and the European Cup Winners´ Cup the following year. His second spell at the club ended in bad terms in 2003 when Brazilian star Ronaldinho was sold to Barcelona.

He is a former French international, with 60 caps for his country, and has also had spells as coach of Israel and Guinea.
