Luis Alberto puts Lazio ahead after operation

Luis Alberto opened the scoring in the Serie A clash between Lazio and Sampdoria and he continued his great form. He is among the candidates for selection for the Spain squad and this was his first goal since his appendicitis operation.

Luis Alberto is keeps on giving Luis Enrique reasons to call him up for the Spain squad. The Lazio midfielder, who has been key in Italy for several seasons, once agan scorer after getting over his appendicitis operation and playing several games off the bench. 

Against Sampdoria in a matchday 23 Serie A clash, he was the one who opened the scoring. He got into the area, received a low pass from Milinkovic-Savic, controlled and then hit into the back of the net with the inside of his right foot. The opposing keeper, Audero, could not do anything. 

It was his seventh goal so far this season. This matches the amount he scored in the whole of last season. He is on course to beat his career best for Lazio. That was when he scored 12 goals in the 2017-18 campaign as well as 20 assists. 

His goal was a very important one in the fight for a European spot. Lazio have been putting pressure on their direct rivals for several weeks and Sassuolo are just behind them. The aim is to get into Europe.
