Spain national coach Julen Lopetegui is both optimistic and enthusiastic ahead of their friendly against Switzerland on Sunday.

Before they re-test their international credentials against Switzerland, the Spanish coach took a moment to praise his squad's physical strength at the moment, despite the exertion from recent European games.

Talking about his side, Lopetegui told reporters: ''They are like bulls, phenomenal. We want our players to be content and happy. We will get the job done.''

When asked on how the team were doing mentally, he said: ''We are very excited, we have earned the right to participate in a great event such as the World Cup.''

Spain's previous friendly, against Argentina, was a rather emphatic 6-1 victory over the South American nation, but Lopetegui doesn't want to get overly-confident.

He said: ''I do not remember the match against Argentina, nor any of March, the past can offer us nothing at this point. Now, we are playing against a team ranked sixth by FIFA, which is very strong.''

Lopetegui was also probed on a possible starting XI for the match, particularly given that they are still waiting on some players but he said he will put out a competitive side.

He added: ''The team that will play tomorrow can play any game in the World Cup, but it is clear that people are missing.''
