Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is extremely proud of his side, after they grabbed a top-four spot for the third year on the trot.

Over the past few years, Tottenham have taken a lot of stick for their inability to turn their impressive performances into trophies, however Spurs captain Hugo Lloris believes that people are ignoring a different metric of success.

With a win over Newcastle on Wednesday, the London side are now guaranteed a top-four spot, and for Lloris, achieving this for the third season in a row is a big feat.

"To be in the Champions League three times in a row means a lot," he said. "To be above Chelsea and Arsenal, I think we deserve credit."

The Frenchman went even further, saying that their win against the Magpies felt better than winning a trophy. "Not a lot of people believed at the beginning of the season in Tottenham for the top four places." he claimed.

"I think today means more than a trophy because we showed the club is strong even if we had some difficult moments."

Lloris pointed to the fact that Tottenham have had to play at Wembley all season, saying this made it harder for his team. "We need to enjoy it because we've played 37 games away from home - that's the feeling to be honest," he explained.

"You can say whatever you want, but Tottenham isn't at its home ground and I think the most exciting thing is that next season we will play Champions League in our new stadium."

"For the fans, the club, the players, the coaching and medical staff it's a big, big achievement but we need to keep working and to stay ambitious because the next step is to win something."
