We bring you an update ahead of the crucial Tuesday clash between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield.

Despite Liverpool’s recent struggles – Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said they are ‘like a wounded animal right now’ - this is still one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of the Premier League season.

Chelsea are at the top of the standings with 55 points, eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal and safe in the knowledge that even a setback on Tuesday will not seriously dent their cushion.

Liverpool on the other hand stand at 45 points and a defeat on Tuesday could see them drop to fifth place, if Manchester City win their game, while of course it would mean their title hopes are as good as over.

The Blues arrive at Anfield with a full-strength squad and Antonio Conte is expected to field his preferred starting XI. Liverpool would like to play Sadio Mane because they have missed him dearly while he was on international duty with Senegal, but the forward only returned on Monday evening. The Reds will certainly have to do without right-back Nathaniel Clyne, who is sidelined through injury.

It is worth noting that Liverpool won 2-1 at Stamord Bridge in the reverse fixture back in September.

Probable line-ups:

Liverpool XI: Mignolet; Moreno, Lovren, Matip, Milner; Wijnaldum, Lallana, Henderson; Coutinho, Firmino, Mane (Sturridge).

Chelsea XI: Courtois; Alonso, Luiz, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Moses, Matic, Kante, Pedro, D. Costa, Hazard.
