Liverpool set to reignite interest in Zielinski

Could we be seeing Zielinski at Anfield next season?

According to Italian newspaper 'Tutto Mercato', Liverpool will try to lure midfielder Piotr Zielinski from Napoli in the summer as Jurgen Klopp aims to strength his squad for the following season.

It wouldn't be the first time that the 'Reds' have had Zielinski in their sights. The Merseyside club saw a bid rejected back in 2016 with the midfielder opting to remain in Serie A, swapping Udinese for current club Napoli.

However, after two more years in Italy, Liverpool feel they would be in a better position to lure Zielinski to England, especially after reaching the Champions League semi-final this season.

The 23-year-old isn't a guaranteed starter for Napoli, having made just ten league starts this campaign, but wouldn't necessarily be given more game time at Liverpool with Naby Keita set to join from RB Leipzig in the summer.

Nonetheless, if Klopp wants his team to take on a dominant Manchester City in the Premier League, the 'Reds' need to add more depth to their squad and midfield would be an obvious area needing improvement.

The aforementioned news source claim that Napoli will only accept offers in the region of £57m and could still hold off pushing through any move given that Zielinski's contract doesn't run out until 2021.
