Liverpool set to hold firm over Coutinho once again

Reports in England claim that Liverpool have no intention of selling playmaker Philippe Coutinho in January, despite reports that Barcelona are preparing another approach for the player.

Barca spent most of the summer pining after the midfielder after seeing Neymar quit the club in spectacular fashion and Barca chief executive Oscar Grau was quoted on Wednesday as stating that the Catlans remain interested in the Brazilian and that they could afford to sign the player if they wished to do so.

“We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market or any player the technical staff request,” Grau said. “But it is important to adjust ourselves, so if there are to be arrivals, there must be exits as well."

However, English publication 'The Independent' reports that Jurgen Klopp's side have not changed their stance from the summer and that once again, they will rebuff any interest from the Catalans.

Barca saw three bids for the 25-year-old turned down during the transfer window and whilst he was disappointed to have not been able to make the move, the Samba star has reintegrate himself into the Liverpool squad successfully, scoing in each of his last three appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be frustrated by the comments from Barcelona, which are completely unnecessary at this point in the season, particularly with the game against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday looming.
