The Liverpool-Fekir transfer saga seems to have taken another turn with reports in England suggesting negotiations between the two parties have stalled because of concerns over the forward's fitness.

On Friday, everything appeared to be going to plan with Liverpool allegedly set to announce a five-year deal and the £53million transfer of Nabil Fekir that night.

However, things grew murkier when Lyon then released a statement saying the move was "nowhere near done".

Those comments make more sense following speculation in the 'Daily Mail' on Sunday.

They claim that Liverpool's medical team travelled to Paris to conduct a medical at France national team's base in Clairefontaine, but it is unclear whether Fekir passed the test.

French Football president Noel Le Graet believes the forward did: "I saw him this morning for 15 minutes. He's in the middle of negotiating, I think they will get it done... He was confident about it because the medical he underwent was positive".

Nonetheless, Fekir has had a history of serious knee problems, even suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in his right leg in September 2015.

The uncertainty means Liverpool may not be able to push the deal through before the World Cup and might have to wait to reignite talks when the competition finishes on July 15.
