Liverpool's Milner to join Brighton - final proposal accepted
Milner and Brighton were quick to agree a deal. The Reds player will end an eight-year spell with Klopp's side and join the Seagulls as a free agent on a contract valid until June 2024.
After it was claimed on Thursday that a deal between Liverpool's Milner and Brighton was 'getting closer', the player is finally set to join the Seagulls, according to Fabrizio Romano.
"Brighton are set to sign James Milner, here we go — the final proposal and all the clauses have been accepted. Deal will be valid until June 2024. Milner will join Brighton on free transfer from Liverpool; second signing imminent after Joao Pedro deal completed," said the Italian journalist.
The English player thus ends an eight-year spell with the Reds, with whom he has won seven titles by lifting the: Champions League, Club World Cup, Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Community Shield.
The 37-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Liverpool in previous seasons, although this one he has played a secondary role, making 39 appearances but only 11 starts. Elsewhere, the Englishman has scored two goals and provided three assists in all competitions.
