Liverpool are thought to be among the clubs to have sent scouts to watch Bayer Leverkusen teenager Kai Havertz.

Havertz, who is just 18, has been turning heads in his homeland for some time, having become Leverkusen's youngester ever debutant and youngest ever goalscorer last year.

His style has been compared to that of compatriot Mesut Ozil, with the youngster having admitted in the past that he looks up to the Arsenal man.

Havertz captained Germany's U19 side to a 5-1 win over Belarus on Wednesday, scoring four goals in the process.

Liverpool were among the teams with scouts present to watch the player, though English publication 'The Daily Mail' reports that Manchester United and Arsenal were also in attendance.

Despite his tender years, the youngster has already made 33 appearances for the Bundesliga side, racking up four goals and six assists in the progress.

With Havertz already boasting five appearances in all competitions so far this season for Bayer, Liverpool will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his progrees in the coming weeks and months.
