The 'Liverpool Echo' claims that Champions League finalists Liverpool have cancelled a planned friendly with German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach over their pursuit of starlet Rhian Brewster.

Liverpool are in the process of trying to convince the U17 World Cup winner to sign professional terms with the club, though Monchengladbach are thought to be keen on convincing him to join the exodus of English talent to the Bundesliga.

The 'Telegraph' reported last week that the 'Reds' are considering reporting the German side over their approach, with the player unable to speak to other clubs after Liverpool triggered the final year of his scholarship deal.

Now, reports claim that the club have scrapped plans to face the Bundesliga outfit during pre-season, due to their aggressive pursuit of the starlet.

The two clubs have a history of friendship, with fans of each side regularly travelling to visit the other, but that relationship is now under threat.
