Newcastle faced Liverpool at home in a Premier League match. Howe's side were looking for three points to move up the table but were unable to get past Liverpool and also had to play with ten footballers as Nick Pope was sent off for a red card.

Liverpool faced Newcastle in a Premier League match at St. James' Park. Newcastle started the game pressing hard and Liverpool barely had the ball. The Magpies had possession in the opening minutes and their attitude was dominant. However, the first half changed dramatically when Darwin Nunez scored a goal after a pass from Alexander-Arnold

Moreover, Cody Gakpo netted Liverpool's second goal seven minutes later. Moh Salah passed the ball to him after crossing from the left flank and passing in front of the Newcastle defence. Both players were on the same wavelength and the two of them set up the second goal of the game.

The day went from bad to worse for Howe's side as Nick Pope was sent off for receiving a red card after running out of his box and failing to clear the ball with his feet. The home team had to continue the game with a player down as Anderson was substituted so that Dubravka could be in goal.

Nevertheless, Newcastle created several chances to score in the second half but Liverpool's defence did not allow it. They fought throughout the match without fear but their efforts were not enough

There were plenty of injury substitutions as Nunez had to be replaced after colliding with Trippier. Joelinton insisted he could continue playing but Eddie Howe decided to swap him for Matt Ritchie, who threatened Liverpool's box several times.

The Magpies fought for an equaliser but found it impossible when Liverpool defended their box in the closing stages. As a result, Klopp's side won 0-2 against a fearless Newcastle. Liverpool end Newcastle's 17-clash unbeaten run in the Premier League.
