Where does the nations league come in?
Some sides have already guaranteed themselves the safety net of a play-off to qualify via UEFA's new Nations League competition in March 2020, but only should they fail to make the top two in their qualifying group. The four group winners from each Nations League league will play each other in a knockout competition, resulting in four play-off winners who will then take up the four final places at Euro 2020 (the tournament has been expanded to 24 teams for the first time as of 2020). Should any team that topped their Nations League group secure qualification via the usual method, their place in the play-offs will be handed to the next best-placed team in their group.
The following teams have all secured a place in the p`lay-offs: Switzerland, Portugal, Netherlands, England, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden, Scotland, Norway, Serbia, Finland, Georgia, Macedonia, Kosovo and Belarus.
Hello and welcome!
It's the moment of truth for many today as UEFA's 55 nations prepare to be split into five groups of six and five groups of five, with the top two teams from each group securing a place at the finals.
