Manchester United new boy Victor Lindelof believes that Jose Mourinho will help bring the best out of him and improve him as a player.

The Swede spoke to the press ahead of United's International Champions Cup game against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The 23-year-old said that he is settling well at the club and was pleased that the speculation about his future was over.

"There was a lot of talk and in the end I am here - and I am very happy to be here," he said. "It has been good. All the lads in the team are helping a lot, so I am settling in."

"It's just been a week since we started training and played some games. It has been alright - I'm getting into it better and better every day."

The former Benfica man explained that he was excited to work under United boss Jose Mourinho and he believes that the Portuguese can help to bring out his best.

"[Mourinho] is a very good manager. I like him a lot. He helped the players a lot when you speak to them, so I think I am going to develop a lot under him," he explained.

Nevertheless, the Sweden international was under no illusions that the coming Premier League season will be a walk in the park.

"I know it is going to be a tough season but we want to play as good as possible and win as many games as we can," he said.

"That's the main goal but it is early in the season. We're preparing ourselves but our main goal is to win as many games as possible."

United fans will be hoping that the defender goes on to activate some of the performance-related clauses rumoured to have been included in his big-money move from Benfica.
