Could Robert Lewandowski swap Munich for Madrid? AFP

After expressing his disappointment with his Bayern Munich team-mates, Polish international Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Real Madrid

The powerful Pole plundered 43 goals in all competitions last season, but was left disappointed in his quest for the Bundesliga golden boot.

The forward cited "a lack of support from his team-mates" as the reason for his failure to seal the prize. He and reported Manchester City target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were level-pegging going into the final weekend of the season, however, Lewandowski's failure to score in a 4-1 victory over Freiburg left the Gabonese international clear to seal the gong.

Since then, Lewandowski has gone public to express his frustration with his team-mates. In an interview with Polish newspaper 'Super Express' he declared that he was "irritated" and "very disappointed with the attitude of my team-mates". These comments were echoed by the player's agent, Maik Barthel, in another interview with German newspaper 'Kicker'.

Reports suggest that Lewandowski is prepared to leave the Bavarians this summer if he feels unervalued. He is currently the club's highest earner, raking in around €15million per year or €288,000 per week. However, Bayern are supposedly ready to blow this out of the water by offering the likes of Alexis Sanchez eye-watering amounts of money to join them this summer.

This has led to speculation that the 28-year-old could make the move to Madrid, who may be on the look out for a big-name signing if Cristiano Ronaldo makes good on his threat to leave the club this summer. It is worth noting that 'The Daily Mail' claims that a desire for Champions League success was one of the factors that drove him to joining Bayern in the first place and that that same desire could now push him towards the Spanish capital.

It remains to be seen whether Lewandowski's unhappiness is genuine or simply posturing for a new contract, however, should it be the former, Real Madrid seems like his most likely destination.
