With his goal against Freiburg, Robert Lewandowski managed to equal the record held by Gerd 'Torpedo' Muller, and his celebration matched the grand occasion. Players held a guard of honour in the middle of the park before the Pole revealed a t-shirt paying homage to the Bayern legend.

It was a matter of time before Robert Lewandowski levelled the record held by Gerd Muller, and it was in Saturday's match against Freiburg where the Pole finally achieved this impressive feat - 40 league goals in a single Bundesliga season.

Lewandowski could even overtake the ex-player, but at the moment he was happy to equal his record and celebrate in style. The striker opened the scoring from the spot after just 26 minutes.

The celebration was planned, as players and staff gathered in the technical area to make Lewandowski a guard of honour which he passed through whilst greeted by pats on the back from all of his teammates.
