Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer spoke to 'Sport1' and was adamant about Robert Lewandowski's contract situation. The Pole let slip that he could have played his last game for the Bavarian club and the president was clear: "He has a contract until 2023, that's how long he will play for us.

Lewandowski is set to be one of the big names this summer. The Pole, who has been with Bayern Munich for eight years, is planning to leave the Bavarian club and could have played his last game for the Bavarian giants against Wolfsburg.

In fact, the striker dropped that possibility to the microphones of 'Viaplay Sport' and 'Sky': "It's very possible that this was my last game for Bayern. I can't say 100 per cent, but it might have been. I will not sign a new contract.

It should be mentioned that Robert has a contract with Bayern until 2023, but the player has already made it clear that he does not intend to extend it under any circumstances. Meanwhile, Herbert Hainer, the Bavarian team president, was adamant about the player's situation in 'Sport1': "Robert has a contract until 2023 and that's how long he will play for us.

He also explained how the negotiations with Oliver Kahn and Salihamidzic went: "They made him an offer to extend his contract. Apparently, it was not accepted. Robert said that a solution has to be found for both parties and Bayern is one of them. He is within his rights not to want to extend the contract."

Barcelona are the team on most interested in the Pole. The Catalan giants want him and there was even talk recently of a verbal agreement between the club and Lewandowski for three seasons. In relation to this, Hainer assured that it is nothing new and recalled the striker's approach to Madrid three years ago. "We already had the case in 2019 when Robert was in talks with Madrid. Bayern are familiar with this situation," he concluded.
