The Foxes got off to a perfect start to Champions League life as they beat Club Brugge 3-0 away from home thanks to an early goal from Marc Albrighton and a brace from Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester's first ever Champions League campaign got off to the best possible start when just  five minutes into the game, Hernandez's long throw evaded the heads of the Brugge defence and Albrighton was on hand to half-volley the ball home.

Things then got even better for the Premier League champions when Mahrez curled a wonderful left-footed free-kick past Butelle in the Brugge goal.

The dream continued for Leicester as they made it 3-0 on the hour mark. Jamie Vardy was brought down by Club Brugge 'keeper Butelle - who received a booking for the foul - and Mahrez stepped up to score his second of the evening.

Not long after Mahrez's spot kick and Club Brugge almost got themselves back into the game. Izquierdo cut in from the left, but his low effort hit the post.

Club Brugge pushed for a goal but Leicester looked dangerous on the counter-attack and substitute Demarai Gray almost scored a fourth on the break, but fired his effort over the bar.

Leicester's victory was thoroughly deserved and Claudio Ranieri will be delighted with the way his side played. The Foxes produced an impressive display away from home in their first ever Champions League fixture and perhaps most importantly for Ranieri and co, Mahrez produced a last season-esque performance and everyone at the King Power will hope that he can build on his outstanding display.
