The first half went fairly smoothly, with both sides looking quite even and both having shots and pieces of play in their opposite ends. The referee blew the whistle for half time, which meant that it was goalless at the break.
Early on in the second half Arsenal had a goal disallowed, as Aubameyang was deemed offside. This goal could have changed the game entirely and given Arsenal some much needed confidence, but after a VAR check, it was not allowed.
Leicester's first goal came in the 67th minute, and what a beautiful goal it was! Slick one-touch stuff as Tielemans nutmegged Torreira as he passed the ball through to Vardy in the middle of the box, and of course, Vardy does not miss. What a piece of play to put the Foxes ahead with 20 minutes to go. Arsenal were left a little stunned after this and didn't know to respond.
Not even 10 minutes later, Leicester doubled their lead, a stunning finish from James Maddison, the ball is passed in for Vardy, who knew he couldn't score from it and so passed it back to Maddison, who confidently volleyed it into the back of the net. What a statement goal for Leicester.
James Maddison also got the man of the match for this game, after some exceptional play from him and then his outstanding goal.
Full time saw Leicester keep a clean sheet and go up to second in the table, after two second half goals saw them beat Unai Emery's struggling Arsenal! A long international fortnight for Arsenal now to ponder where they are going wrong. A statement piece from Leicester that puts them in contention for the title race.
