According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Championship side Leeds United are in talks to sign legendary Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Leeds United are highly interested in signing legendary Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The World Cup winning keeper left the French champions at the end of the season after just one season, where he lifted yet another league title in a glittering career.

At aged 41, many thought it may be time for Buffon to retire this summer, but the Italian is confident he still has more to give.

Championship side Leeds have emerged as one of the favourites to sign the Italian, with Portuguese champions Porto and Brazilian side Fluminese also linked to the Italian keeper.

Buffon, who is missing just the Champions League from his impressive collection of medals, is rumoured to prefer Porto as his future destination, as they are still in Europe's top competition.

The 176 times capped Italian will turn 42 in January, but he is still of interest for several clubs and seems destined to carry on for the forthcoming season.
