Leeds look forward to cup reunion with player of the year Chris Wood

New Burnley striker Chris Wood left Leeds in the summer for a fee of around £15m.

Tuesday's Carabao Cup fixtures see the reunion of another star striker with his former employers.

After Romelu Lukaku and Everton, and Wayne Rooney and Manchester United, follows Chris Wood and Leeds, the club he is current player of the year at.

Just 29 days after leaving, Wood faces the side he scored 30 goals for last season, and even helped this season too. Wood scored a goal and assisted another for Leeds in their opening day victory over Bolton Wanderers, and featuring in two more matches before his £15m move to the top flight.

“If he plays and I see him I will say hello to him, like other players,” Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen said of the striker. “He’s started well in his team. If he plays we know which type of player he is, and he knows our team.”

Wood’s 27 league goals constituted 44.26% of Leeds’s total last season winning a total of 23 points for his team, both stats considerably more than any other player in the Championship.
