Lacklustre United criticised by Souness
Graeme Souness was very damning of Manchester United's performance in their 1-0 loss away at Newcastle and tipped Liverpool to finish above Mourinho's side.
United were defeated by a rugged, unwavering Newcastle display - a real fight for survival from a team in the relegation scrap.
Souness told 'Sky Sports': "I think United today huffed and puffed. Jose was talking all about Newcastle after the game and not about his own team because I think he knew they weren't very good today."
"He's got a good collection of players that, on paper, there are some big names but that doesn't mean you're a good team. I think he'll be worried about their performance today," he added.
Souness was also asked if he thought Liverpool might fancy their chance at a second place finish. His answer was unequivocal: "'Definitely. Most definitely. If you look at their games, the away games they have then they'll be thinking they can finish second."
Liverpool eased past Southampton on Sunday with a convincing 2-0 win at St. Mary's. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be determined to kick-on in the pursuit of second.
