Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain "has a lot of space for improvement" after the former Arsenal man criticised his won performance in the win over Swansea on Boxing Day.

The 24-year-old scored in a 5-0 win at Anfield against the 'Swans', only to criticise his performance in an interview following the game.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been deployed through the middle of late and appears to have finally started to force his way into the team, starting three of Liverpool's last five league games.

Now, speaking to the club's official website, manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that then England midfielder can indeed improve, but insists that it is the mark of an intelligent player that he did not need to be told he can do better.

"Ox is a smart player. He knew it was not even close to his best possible performance [against Swansea], but it's no problem, that's football," the German explained.

"Ox needs to adapt to the position still, that's no problem. He has a lot of space for improvement. But it's nice to see that he is really working hard on it.

"He is a really hard-working boy and wants to improve. It's good that he knows he can do better now we have to work together on it so he can do better."
