Following a goalless draw between Al Ahly and Inter Miami, Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman had the honour of scoring the opening goal of the 2025 Club World Cup on Sunday. The French winger put the Bavarians ahead in their match against Auckland City.

After the disappointing lack of goals in the tournament's opening fixture between Al Ahly and Inter Miami, Bayern wasted little time breaking the deadlock against Auckland City on Sunday — and in doing so, netting the very first strike of this year's competition.

That privilege went to Kingsley Coman, who from the outset demonstrated the clear gulf in class between the two sides meeting at Cincinnati's TQL Stadium.

Early on, the Frenchman headed a warning shot following a wide cross, forcing Auckland keeper Conor Tracey into a brilliant save that sent the ball over for a corner.

Yet from that very corner, a rehearsed set-piece unfolded perfectly. The ball was swung to the far post, where debutant Tah headed it back across the six-yard box. Waiting there was Coman, who nodded the ball home comfortably without needing to jump, giving Bayern a 1-0 lead inside six minutes.
