Sunderland player and Tunisia vice-captain Wahbi Khazri has admitted that his team's World Cup preparations have been affected by their observation of Ramadan.

Tunisia is a muslim majority country, and the efforts of the team to get round their fast during the friendly matches has not gone unnoticed.

However, despite these measures - which included faking an injury as the sun went down - Khazri has said they have still be hampered in their preparation.

"It is very difficult," he said. "We cannot eat or drink [when we want]. It is very complicated to prepare as we want."

Khazri spent the season on loan at Rennes in France, playing no part as Sunderland plummeted into League One, but he insists he is ready to put that behind him.

"I am already training with my team-mates. I feel pretty good. I'm happy to go back to work and play," he said, referring to an injury that kept him out of the friendlies.

"I may not be able to play the 90 minutes but what really matters is that I can help the Tunisia national team. I'm not the leader, it's the whole team."

Tunisia's first game is against England on June 18th.
