Khan: 'I want to build a roof over Wembley'

Fulham owner Shahid Khan has launched a £1billion offer to purchase Wembley Stadium, and says plans would include constructing a retractable roof.
Wembley already has a partial roof, but Khan wants to see a complete modernisation of the iconic national stadium and pointed to Cardiff's Principality Stadium as an example.
He told 'The Daily Telegraph': ''There are now all kinds of plastic roofs [you can install], so if you could do that you could control the climate.
''With the roof there are now two sliding parts that move but the rain can still come in and if you are looking at a winter concert, for example, would it be comfortable for people?''
The proposed deal has sparked controversy with concern that England may be denied usage of Wembley for international matches.
For his part, Khan was keen to dismiss those worries, he said: ''England must play there. Otherwise it will be a shell. It would be like an empty suit that doesn't have a soul.
''We don't want the FA abandoning us. Even though the FA captures the revenue from the games, it injects the soul, the passion into the venue that adds value [for us].''
