Juventus have turned their gaze back to PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi after it emerged that main target Emre Can looks set to snub their advances and sign a new deal with Liverpool.

Matuidi made 26 starts for PSG in Ligue 1 last season but is believed to be open to a move away from the club this summer. The 30-year-old is said to be keen on a long-term deal somewhere, given that he has now passed the dreaded 30 mark.

The French international has just 12 months left on his contract in the French possible and as a result Max Allegri's Juventus are hopeful that they can negotiate a suitable price for the player.

Germany international Can was reportedly the subject of a £31m bid from Juventus last week, but it was rejected out of hand by Liverpool

The 23-year-old finds himself in the same contractual position as Matuidi and intial discussions suggested that he would be very open to a move to Turin, with the Italian media claiming that a deal was done. However, the German is believed to have held productive talks with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and now looks set to commit his future to the Merseysiders.

Can was given an extended break following his involvement with Germany in the Confederations Cup over the summer but is expected to join up with his Liverpool team-mates this week.
