Juan Mata has said Manchester United would be making a 'huge mistake' to underestimate Swiss side Young Boys ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match

Mata's United team have been drawn in a tough group alongside Juventus and the Spanaird's former club Valencia, rounded off by the less fancied Young Boys team based in Bern, Switzerland.

Although Jose Mourinho's side are expected to win easily, attacking midfielder Juan Mata is keen to guard against complacency and isn't expecting an easy game on Wedensay.

The Swiss team memorably gave Tottenham an almighty scare in 2010, going 3-0 up against the Londoners in a Champions league qualifier. Mata is clearly keen to avoid this sort of scenario.

Writing in his blog on Manchester United's website he commented: ''The Champions League is back and we are really motivated to have a great campaign,''

''It would be a huge mistake to underestimate the Swiss side just because they aren’t as big of a name as other teams, with many of those huge clubs also featuring in our group.

''We are talking about a team that is in great form and will be facing us hugely motivated, just as every opponent does when they play against Manchester United. It will be a tough start to the Champions League.''

United have rallied after a shaky start to the Premier League season and Mata says spirits are high again at Old Trafford:

''We come into this week after winning against Watford, at a stadium that is really tough to go to, so confidence in the group is high,.''

''We have a squad that can compete in every competition and in the dressing room everyone wants to show just that.''
