Nuno Gomes, ex-Benfica striker and current member of the Portuguese side's board, knows Joao Félix perfectly, the forward who was sold to Atlético last summer. He thinks that he will be able to compete for the Ballon d'Or in the future.
Joao Félix signed for Atlético for 120 million euros. He is the most expensive signing in Atlético Madrid's history.
Nuno Gomes is clear that every euro that Atlético paid for him is worth it. In fact, he sees him with a Ballon d'Or under his arms.
"Joao Felix has a lot of talent, intelligence to play, and the advantage of being a young man. He has plenty of time to reach the Ballon d'Or goal", he told 'Esporte 360'.
The ex-striker allowed himself to give Joao Félix a piece of advice: "Without work, nothing is achieved no matter how talented a young player is. If there is talent, things will happen naturally. You have to be committed, never give up, even if you find a stone in the road, be persistent, work on the talent, because you can always improve".
Nuno Gomes recognised that Joao Félix still lacks adaptation. "After a very good start at Atletico Madrid, he had the misfortune of an injury that delayed him in the process. And then this break and all this uncertainty..."
But there is no doubt in his mind that Félix will do great things. "Joao Félix is a person who knows he has to work hard to get there. He knows he has to keep working".
