According to 'A Bola' newspaper, Joao Felix has given up almost €17 million to "fulfil his dream" of playing for Barcelona.
Joao Felix had to make a major financial effort to fulfil his 'childhood dream' of joining Barca. In total, he would have given up 17 million euros.
According to 'A Bola' newspaper, the Portuguese earned around €6 million net per year from Atletico Madrid, who paid his wages until August. From now on, Barcelona will pay him a total of €400,000 net until the end of the season.
This season alone, the right winger will lose almost five million euros. In order to be able to loan him to Barcelona, Atletico also forced Joao Felix to extend his contract until 2029, forcing him to reduce his wages from six million to three million net from next season. So instead of being paid 24 million until 2029, the player will only receive 12 million net.
"Everyone knows how happy I am to be here. It has always been what I worked for, to be here, at this club. It was my dream as a kid, when I watched Barca. I'm here to help make this a great season," he said on his move to the Catalan giants a few days ago.
