Whilst Arsene Wenger's final European game may have ended in disappointment, his final home legaue game was no such damp squib, with Alex Iwobi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang putting the icing on the cake for the 'Gunners' as they thumped Arsenal 5-0.
Whilst it was always going to be an emotional affair, something Wenger alluded to in his program notes, the Arsenal squad delivered the perfect performance against their rivals for sixth place, putting on the sort of display that makes you think: 'why can't you play like this every week?'
The hosts were a class above throughout, taking a commanding lead courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette, Aubameyang and Sead Kolasinac.
As the game wore on, Arsenal continued to go for the jugular, adding two more goals to their tally to put the icing on the cake on Wenger's Emirates farewell.
First, Iwobi hammered into the roof of the net from 14 yards after being found by Aubamaeyang, before the Gabonese doubled his tally for the dead on 75 minutes, guiding home Hector Bellerin's cross from the right.
